Brings Corporations and Law Firms Greater In-house Control over Electronic Evidence Projects

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jul. 8, 2009-- Navigant Consulting, Inc. (NYSE:NCI), a global consulting firm providing dispute, investigative, operational, risk management and financial advisory solutions, announced today the launch of its advanced eDiscovery portal built upon Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. Navigant Consulting’s new tool was developed in response to a growing demand among corporations and law firms for better processes around internal documentation. The portal provides organizations with greater access and control over the activities that occur during an eDiscovery project, including compliance, archiving, search, collection and pre-review.

“According to Gartner research, and based on feedback from many of our clients, companies are increasingly looking to insource portions of their eDiscovery in an effort to reduce litigation costs,” said Julie Howard, President and Chief Operating Officer, Navigant Consulting. “Our firm can attest to this growing trend as we have built our own in-house eDiscovery solution to use our e-Discovery portal and have successfully assisted clients in implementing this tool to better manage their eDiscovery matters.”

Navigant Consulting’s eDiscovery portal enables clients to manage the end-to-end eDiscovery process through Office SharePoint Server 2007. The technology features automated legal hold noticing as well as a workflow for managing eDiscovery activities under one central location. Navigant Consulting’s portal allows integration with multiple litigation technologies and provides a set of eDiscovery compliance tools necessary for effective electronic records management.

“Office SharePoint Server 2007 is a terrific platform for the kind of workflow that eDiscovery projects generate,” said Richard Finkelman, Managing Director and leader of Navigant Consulting’s Discovery Services practice. “The tool is extremely dynamic and allows companies who are insourcing solutions in stages to properly preserve both legacy information and information from newer systems.”

“We are delighted to work with a consulting firm that has such comprehensive knowledge of the eDiscovery business and is helping clients to migrate their existing eDiscovery functions to more current architectures,” said Brian Zeve, U.S. professional services managing director, Microsoft Corp. “Office SharePoint Server 2007 is one of the fastest growing products in Microsoft’s history and we think more companies and industries will be able to meet their compliance obligations with advanced tools like Navigant’s eDiscovery portal.”
