Dr. Bruce Perlstein and Dr. Ken Seiden Join Navigant's Energy Practice
CHICAGO, Jan 18, 2012 (BUSINESS WIRE) --Navigant (NYSE: NCI) announced today that Dr. Bruce W. Perlstein and Dr. Ken Seiden have joined the firm's Energy Practice as Directors. The addition of high-profile experts such as Dr. Perlstein and Dr. Seiden underscores the firm's continued commitment to providing best-in-class analytics in the rapidly growing areas of energy efficiency, demand response, and innovative pricing.
"We are pleased to have Bruce and Ken as part of our team. Both have a wealth of utility industry experience which further bolsters our econometrics and data analytics capabilities," says Kevin Cooney, Managing Director and leader of the Demand-Side Management team in Navigant's Energy Practice. "Their experience and understanding of demand-side resources, utility procurement practices, and state-of the art analysis methods will help our team serve our expanding client needs in these areas."
Dr. Perlstein has more than 25 years of experience consulting on energy and financial risk management, policy, and valuation-related issues, and his clients have included dozens of energy industry and financial services firms, multilateral agencies - including the World Bank - and governments in the U.S., Canada, Europe, Latin America and East Asia. Since 2003, his work has focused on integrated resource planning; renewable power integration and project evaluations; designing and evaluating the impact and cost effectiveness of dynamic pricing and Smart Grid-enabled energy efficiency and demand response resources; valuations of derivatives and complex financial securities; and providing expert testimony. He will be based in Navigant's San Francisco office.
"The power industry is facing numerous opportunities and challenges, including building Smart Grid capabilities, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and integrating increasing amounts of renewable energy, distributed generation, demand response, and energy efficiency in a seamless and cost effective manner," said Dr. Perlstein. "I am very happy to be part of Navigant's Energy Practice and look forward to working with our impressive team of professionals to provide high value solutions to our clients."
Dr. Seiden brings 25 years of strategic planning and quantitative analytics expertise for utilities to Navigant, specializing in energy efficiency and demand response planning, evaluation, and cost-effectiveness analysis; energy, peak, and end-use forecasting; market planning and segmentation; pricing; and providing expert testimony. He will be based in the firm's Boulder, CO office.
"Demand response programs, renewable resources, and the Smart Grid will impact the utility industry in a manner similar to the way bar codes and computers revolutionized inventory management. Analytics--particularly the ability to synthesize enormous amounts of data from a variety of sources--are the key to optimizing the use of new energy resources," said Dr. Seiden. "Navigant is uniquely positioned in the industry to offer the solutions necessary to be successful, and I'm very pleased to join Navigant's Energy Practice."
