Alma Angotti Joins Navigant's Disputes & Investigations Practice
CHICAGO, Aug 10, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) --
Navigant (NYSE: NCI) announced today that Alma Angotti has joined the firm in the Washington, DC office as a Director. The addition of Angotti, a senior financial regulations expert, strengthens the firm's capabilities in the areas of anti-money laundering (AML), anti-bribery and other regulatory matters, including investigations, training and compliance.
"With the renewed and very focused efforts around financial regulatory oversight and compliance, Alma is joining our AML team at a critical time for our financial services clients," said Ellen Zimiles, Managing Director and Head of Navigant's Global Investigations and Compliance Practice. "Her recent and extensive regulatory career, focused on enforcement in AML and other areas, will provide our clients with access to valuable insights and expertise as they grapple with investigations, policy, training, and compliance issues."
Angotti has the distinction of having held senior positions at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), U.S. Department of the Treasury's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) and Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) during her 25 year tenure. At FINRA, Angotti had primary responsibility for AML policy and broker-dealer compliance with FINRA and SEC AML rules. She designed and conducted AML training for FINRA staff, other regulators and the financial services industry, both domestically and internationally. Alma has advised non-U.S. governments on AML issues and served as a FINRA representative on several inter-agency AML groups.
A widely recognized AML expert, Angotti has trained and advised the financial services industry, regulators and government officials around the world on AML and counter-terrorist finance matters. She is frequently invited to speak at AML conferences globally and has authored articles on AML compliance, market manipulation and enforcement issues.
"We are very excited to have Alma join our Global Investigations and Compliance practice," said Jeff Green, Vice President, Navigant Dispute & Investigative Services. "She is a luminary in anti-money laundering regulation and a valuable addition to our team."
